The method simulates creeping currents on the surface of insulating material dropping solution between the electrodes.
During operations, the material may be exposed to moisture or dirt and it may affect the insulating properties of the material itself.
The sample is subjected to a variable voltage from 0 to 600V through two electrodes which apply itself a pressure of 1N on the sample. Among these they are made to fall drops of a conductive solution to the operator adjustable intervals.
A drops counter allows to set the number. If during the test the creeping current exceeds the intensity of 0.5°, the instrument automatically stops the test (FAIL).
Otherwise the test will end after the instrument will have released the pre-set number of drops.
The instrument will go in ‘standby’ and will indicate that the test is passed (OK).
