Xenon tester

AMSE offers a complete range of Xenon accelerated aging test chambers.

Artificial aging of coatings or the exposure of coatings to filtered Xenon radiation is performed to determine the degree of change in a selected property after a certain radiant exposure H and/or the radiant exposure required to produce a certain degree of aging. It’s preferable that the properties selected for monitoring are those important for the practical use of the coatings themselves. The properties of exposed coatings are compared with those of unexposed coatings prepared with the same materials and in the same way (control specimens) or with those of coatings whose behavior during the test is already known (reference specimens).

The light from the Xenon lamp can emulate the effect of the sun, while the water spray system can emulate the effects of rain and dew. During the test, irradiation energy, temperature, and humidity are controllable. A typical test cycle is generally performed under strong Xenon light irradiation and periodic precipitation. These tests are generally applied in the paint and coatings, automotive, plastics, wood, adhesives, and many other sectors.

The BGD series Xenon chambers (hereinafter referred to as B-SUN) use Xenon lamps as an artificial light source and can reproduce full-spectrum sunlight with the ability to control temperature and humidity. This allows for the effect of periodic precipitation on the sample to be achieved, and the damage caused by sunlight, humidity, and temperature to be evaluated (the phenomenon of material aging also includes fading, flickering, reduction in intensity, cracking, and oxidation).
