Heel impact testing

The Heel impact tester is a machine used to verify the impact resistance of women’s shoe heels. This test helps evaluate how likely a heel is to break if it experiences strong or accidental impacts during daily use.

How it Works:

  • The heel is secured in the machine with the toe of the shoe facing upwards and the heel in a vertical position.

  • A pendulum repeatedly strikes the heel.

  • The impact energy gradually increasing with each blow.

  • The test continues until the heel fails or breaks.

Why it’s useful:

  • This test is suitable for all types of high heels, regardless of their material or construction.

  • It’s particularly useful for injection-molded plastic heels, which often contain an internal steel reinforcement known as a “dowel.”

  • The test helps determine if the dowel’s material has the correct hardness to withstand impacts.
