The UV 856 accelerated weathering test chamber uses fluorescent UV lamps as its light source.
Temperature and humidity inside the chamber can be precisely controlled to achieve periodic condensation on the sample, allowing evaluation of damage caused by sunlight, moisture, and temperature. Typical material degradation phenomena include fading, peeling, loss of strength, cracking, flaking, chalking, and oxidation.
Fluorescent UV light simulates the effects of sunlight, while the water spray condensation system reproduces the effects of rain and dew.
During testing, both irradiance energy and temperature are controllable. A typical test cycle alternates between high UV exposure and dark, humid condensation phases with 100% relative humidity.
These tests are commonly used in coatings, automotive, plastics, wood, adhesives, and many other industries.
