A specimen, subject to a pre-determined load defined by international standard, is subjected to three point bending test with variable temperature. The sample is sinked into an oil bath that provides temperature raise as per standard requirements (120°C/h). The instrument records the temperature at which the standard deflection occurs. That for definition is the heat deflection temperature (HDT).
The test station is consisting of an indenting tip of 1mm² section which penetrates the sample under the effect of a constant force of either 10N or 50N. Selected force depends upon the method chosen between the ones listed in the international standards. The test station in sinked into an oil bath and heating ramp chosen between 50°C/h and 120°C/h. The instrument records the temperature at which the indenting tip penetrates the specimen by 1mm. Such a temperature is the Vicat Softening Temperature (VST).
AMSE offers models with 2,3,4,6 indipendent testing stations with manual or motorized lifting. There are two different versions available. One is equipped with touch screen for setting test parameters, to monitor test performance of each station and to save the results through USB pen drive. The other version is supplied with PC.
